  Really good homemade burger salad & fries. Beer is well kept & landlord welcoming. Staff are friendly & accomodating, all in all a good well run pub.
  
  Wow came here again for a bite after work & tried the pie of the day which was steak & ale. PROPER PIE YEAH !!! Nice chunk of homemade pie filled with nice chunks of steak in a suet crust pastry. Cut from a proper big proper homemade steak pie & it doesn't come much better than that. It made me very happy, coz it was proper, it was good, it was what a pie should be. Many thanks to all at the Royal Oak, I'll be back for more 4 sure.
  OK well here I am again, PROPER PIE ! Steak & mushroom this time, God it was good.
  If you want good unpretentious home cooked food then this is the place to come. Proper Pub, Proper Landlord, Proper food & reasonably priced.
  Have an accustic night hear tonight & although musicians are right behind me it is not overbearing. Quality well played & rather enjoyable, cool.
  Just had beef casserole as it's turned wintery, Yum, just what I needed. This place is great for honest home cooked food.
